Fascism

There is madness occurring in this country. Right in front of our eyes, filling the air with the stench of putrification and internal rot. Yet nobody utters a peep. This IS how it happened in Germany in the 1930's. I'm not attempting to make some wild, out of this world comparison between the current situation in the United States and Hitler's Germany strictly for shock value. I am continually making these comparisons that sicken, disgust and anger many of you because I have read VOLUMES on pre-World War II Germany, and the slow creeping evil that took over that country, I can say with confidence, IS OCCURING HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. I would like to say that it isn't, for Christ's sake!!! I would love to have the confidence to state that all those "wacky liberals" who are screaming about fascism and "fabricating" comparisons to the worlds greatest evil (Nazism), are, quite frankly, wrong. But they're not. WE are not. How I would love to be wrong!!! For you see, I too must live in this country along with the rest of you. And I will be subject to the same "special treatment" that will be doled out by this fascist BuSh organization.
I have read dozens upon dozens of books on Himmler, the Gestapo, the Einsatzgruppen and Adolf Hitler. Read William Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." There are pages upon pages in that book that are mirror images of the situation in this country. It's frightening. Read chapters that discuss how the Nazi party gained control of the government. How they slowly, under the radar of the normal citizen, chipped away at their constitution until it was no more. How they slowly stated to spy on and lock up those individuals who disagreed or spoke out against them. How they locked up dissenting groups and pasted the country with propaganda and had flags flying on every corner. "Nationalism!!!" they screamed in their patriotic fervor! Those who went against the party were labeled as un-German or Jewish sympathizers and were locked up or beaten in the streets. Protesting was outlawed. The German newspapers and media organizations were taken over by the party. They were only permitted to print favorable articles about the Nazi's and Adolf Hitler. The corporations made a fortune off cronyism and special contracts from the Nazi's while the regular German laborer (those who DIDN'T join the Nazi party)found themselves out in the cold.
It's frightening the similarities between this current administration and the growth of Nazism in Germany in the early 1930's. Frightening! I often times want to run to Canada and hide out there. Watch the coming storm roll across the continent from afar. I want to laugh (or cry?) when I see my fellow Americans getting locked up for protesting this Fuhrer and his officials. They have essentially outlawed protesting now. You read that, right? The Patriot Act now prohibits "disrupters" and subjects them to actions by the Secret Service (SS??). Jesus Christ, people! Are you just going to sit there? What, exactly, are you waiting for? What will be the final straw for you that will send you flooding into the streets in outrage? But I am an American, so I cannot leave. I must stay and fight like our forefathers fought the imperialism of the British Army and the vile racism of the segregated South. It is in our blood to fight! This is a country born on dissent and the desire to live free from a dictator( a king). So stay I will, and fight I will. For I am an American.
But for many of you, that day of rebellion will never come. You will simply join the party and become willing accomplices to the ruination of democracy in America. I am happy for you, but I hope you have the stomach for your special assignments. You who fall on your knees and weep at the feet of this man, George Bu$h, are as culpable to the destruction of this country, which you claim to love so much, as the German and Polish citizenry who happily tended their gardens as the ashes from the concentration camps covered their plants with a fine grey, oily coat of "dust" Or those who shielded their eyes from the sun, wiping the sweat from their brow as they paused to watch the seemingly endless lines of cattle cars pass by, packed with fellow human beings, on its way to eternity. You are just as guilty.
